Curative impacts of Ethanoic Extract of Laportea aestuans (L) Chew in Aspirin-Induced Ulcerative compromise in Male Rats

Toxicity of Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are being reported with its diverse effect in the host resulting ulcerations. Ulceration was induced orally using aspirin. Twenty-four male Wistar rats were used for this study (120-150g). Rats divided into 6 groups each group containing 4 rats. pre-treated cimetidine, a reference drug. Group 1 received 1% gum acacia solution as control group, 2 administered 25 mg/kg aspirin and served ulcerated, untreated 3 200 400 respectively days while 5 50 cimetidine catechin days. The result shows that showed increased concentrations acid output, pepsin activity concomitant decrease pH values, mucin content compared to but pre-treatment different doses, reversed these observations. Activities superoxide oxidase decreased increase lipid peroxidation concentration In conclusion, ethanoic extract L. aestuans can be said therapeutically agaisnt aspirin-induced gastric ulcer which is due presence bioactive compounds plant.
